Engaging English Learners with IT-Enhanced Lessons

In this experience-sharing video, the pre-service teacher shares her experience in online teaching mode, including the challenges she faces about students engagement, and the methods she adopts to tackle the problems. She utilizes the online tools Padlet and Mentimeter in Zoom lessons to interact with the students and to arouse their interest. The pre-service teacher also emphasizes on the importance of understanding the students’ needs and interest in order to select the appropriate IT tools for them and to make their learning effective. Lastly, she mentions how she creates her own teaching materials that are highly relevant to the students’ daily lives, as she finds it to be the most effective way to help students learn English.
