The Establishment of British Colonial Rule: Sites Related to Early Colonial Governance

This video responds to the foundation part "Establishment of British colonial rule" of Topic 8 "Growth and development of Hong Kong up to the late 19th century" of the junior secondary History subject curriculum. According to the curriculum document, the learning point of this topic is understanding how the early British administration and system affected the subsequent development of Hong Kong. In this video, we have invited Dr. Tang Ka Jau Billy of Society of Hong Kong History to conduct an interview. Students can pay attention to how the urban development in the Central area, including Tai Kwun in Central, highlights the governance and the relationship between Chinese and the West.
