Legacies of Roman Civilization

Fung Yu Qi

In this video, the teacher demonstrates an online lecture on the topic of Roman legacies in art. She uses illustrations and real-time annotation to highlight the topics, which include the colourful mosaic wall in Choi Hung MTR Station in Hong Kong. This introduces the concept of mosaic with a local example, which is more accessible to students. The teacher then analyses two artworks specifically to show the mosaic influence in Europe: Hare and Birds with Geometric Designs (A.D.400, Antioch) and Diana and Callisto Surrounded by a Hunt (A.D.175-200, Villelaure). The teacher integrates everyday life experience into class when teaching traditional civilization. This video was designed for Secondary History teachers.
