The Impact of World War II

Shum Kwan Ho

This video demonstrates an approach to online lecture by a teacher discussing the impact of World War II, including its casualties and related economic issues. Abundant photos and data illustrate the consequences of the war. Heavy civilian casualties raised people’s awareness of peace, encouraged people to fight against racial discrimination, and prevented another World War from happening. On the other hand, in addition to battlefield casualties, armed conflict often leads to forced migration, refugee flows, and the destruction of societies’ infrastructure. From an economic point of view, World War II led to inflation, high social welfare expenditures, and the market’s shifting to the United States. This video was designed for Secondary History teachers.
